●

New Moon

The dark of the moon. Traditionally treated as a beginning: nothing is visible yet, so the work is naming what you want to grow.

☽

Waxing Crescent

The first sliver of light. Commonly worked with for hopes and early momentum, when an intention needs feeding rather than judging.

◐

First Quarter

Half lit, half dark. Associated with friction and decision: the point where an intention meets its first real obstacle.

◕

Waxing Gibbous

Almost full. Traditionally a time of refinement rather than expansion, adjusting and preparing for culmination.

The last thin light before dark. Associated with rest, cleansing and quiet preparation for the next beginning.
